The Bendigo Art Gallery is located in Rosalind Park between the Cathedral and Poppet Head Lookout. There’s an impressive collection of period Australian paintings, and sometimes the gallery will host traveling exhibitions. You can also visit the Bendigo Botanic Gardens, the oldest botanical garden in the region. Established in 1857, this park is a great place to enjoy the outdoors with family and friends.

The original gardens have been expanded to include a Garden of the Future, which opened on the southern part in 2018. Visitors will find an array of native and exotic species, as well as water-resistant plants. While dogs are welcome in the gardens, they are not permitted in the bird aviary. In addition to the Bendigo Botanic Gardens, you can check out the nearby Great Stupa of Universal Compassion, which is being built on the western edge of Bendigo.

The city is home to the largest cathedral in Australia, the Sacred Heart Cathedral. This gothic church is a beautiful example of gothic architecture. The exterior is impressive and gets more spectacular as you walk closer. The inside boasts beautiful stained glass windows, gothic stone columns, and a huge pipe organ. The city is also home to a historic Chinatown. There are several historical buildings, as well as museums and galleries dedicated to the city’s Chinese community.
